Stella Maris Chapel - then and now

Stella Maris Chapel was blessed and opened on 29th August 1997 by Most Reverend John Satterthwaite DDBE, Bishop of Lismore.

'I am very happy to announce that the former Jetty Church in Hood Street is to be relocated to John Paul College and restored. The Church will become the College Chapel and will better serve the needs of the College than the current Chapel, which will be converted to a drama performance theatre. The Church will be situated in the area near the caretaker's cottage and top car park. This new Chapel will be a great asset to the College and demonstrates the importance and significance that the school and the parishes place upon an appropriate and suitable 'sacred space' for the John Paul College community. I am very grateful for the support and encouragement from the parish and priests in securing this addition to John Paul College. An addition that I am sure will also be greatly utilised by the wider parish communities.'

Library

The school library provides information and ideas that are fundamental to functioning successfully in today's information and knowledge-based society. The school library equips students with lifelong learning skills and develops their imagination, enabling them to live as responsible citizens (IFLA School Library Guidelines, 2015).

The McAuley Library, named after Catherine McAuley, is a central hub for learning in the school and provides a friendly and stimulating environment for learning, research and reading.

Our library staff aim to provide a positive and productive experience for all students and staff, from providing research assistance to access to collaborative learning spaces or quiet reading and study spaces.

Our comprehensive Oliver Online Library provides students with access to a wide range of curated resources to support the curriculum for individual subjects and assessments. Our collection also includes an extensive fiction and non-fiction collection to encourage a lifelong love of reading, eBooks, audiobooks, and videos via our ClickView platform.
